Local Advertisers Fuel Growth of Cinema Advertising

Newly released statistics from the Cinema Advertising Council indicate that both on-screen and off-screen cinema advertising revenues increased 15% in 2006.  This is more twice the rate of growth reported for the previous year.  While national advertisers have utilized cinema advertising for a number of years, its recent growth has come from increased use by local advertisers.  We feel this is probably a result of cinema’s ability to geo-target by theatre and deliver younger active consumers.  The top local advertising categories for cinema are automotive, real estate, healthcare and restaurants.
